You’re either a Spotify or a Pandora person (there’s also Apple Music, which I personally can’t stand). I use Spotify if I haven’t yet purchased a song or an album and I’m still feeling it out, and I use Pandora for discovering new music (I’m Team Pandora, for the most part). This past week, Pandora introduced me to a band I had heard of but never really listened to, until I was stuck in rush hour traffic and was too preoccupied with my eyes on the road to mess with my phone to shuffle through songs. I’m actually glad, because I haven’t been able to stop listening to them for the past few days. Ladies and Gentlemen, enter Two Door Cinema Club.
Formed in 2009 in Bangor, Northern Ireland, the band is composed of Alex Trimble, Kev Baird, and Sam Halliday. As of writing this, they have 129,170,863 views and 359,524 subscribers on YouTube. Their Alt-Electronic music feels both chill and edgy at the same time. I found myself rolling my windows down and blaring it as I took on traffic, not having a care in the world (and feeling like summer is sooooo close). I’m hooked. As a fan of other bands like Phoenix and The Wombats, I’m just surprised I haven’t listened to them sooner.
Currently, you can catch them on tour (find locations, dates, and purchase tickets here), as well as headlining the Community Festival 2018 in London on July 1st 2018.
